ERNA

GRADUATED: Aurora Central High School
ATTENDING: University of Colorado at Boulder

Born during the Bosnian war, Erna's family fled their home country and immigrated to America in 1996.  Despite this upheaval, Erna excelled in her new country.  In high school, she was Student Body Vice President, Captain of the Volleyball Team, and President of Future Business Leaders of America.  She graduated Valedictorian and now attends CU Boulder where she is studying Communications with a minor in Creative Writing.

HASSAN 

GRADUATED: Venture Prep High School, Denver
ATTENDING: Brown University

A refugee from Somalia, Hassan in high school, Hassan, held education and community service in high regard.  He wanted to be a role model for other Somali youth, and show them they too can go to college, graduate, and become successful in life.  Hassan is now pursuing a Computer Science degree at Brown University.  

"My education is a priority, success in school is what must be attained in order to succeed in life."

JENNIFER

GRADUATED: Arrupe Jesuit High School, Denver
ATTENDING: Loyola University - Chicago

A daughter of a single mom who often worked 13 hour days just to make ends meet, Jennifer often cared for her little brother teaching him to read, add and subtract, and how to ride a bicycle.  From this experience she found a passion for teaching kids and started a tutoring program at her high school.  The first in her family to graduate high school, Jennifer currently attends Loyla University and is pursuing a degree in Social Work.  

"I am determined to commit to all it is required to being a Greenhouse Scholar and to continue being a leader in my community."

WILLIAM

GRADUATED: Custer County High School
ATTENDING: University of Colorado, Colorado Springs

Facing poverty after William's parents divorced, he was determined to excel in school and graduated in the top 5 of his high school.  A strong leader, William held significant roles such as President of the Custer Country Future Farmers of America Chapter, President of National Honor Society, and Co-Captain of the football team.  William attends the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs where he aspires to become a  Pediatrician.
